Our History

Reach Counseling has a long history of meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities throughout the Fox Valley. Established in 1976 as the Winnebago County Sexual Assault Response Team, the agency was dedicated to the prevention of sexual abuse, incest and rape, and to offer advocacy and support to victims.

With an ongoing commitment to the well-being of the Fox Valley, the agency became a licensed outpatient mental health clinic in 1993. Adding long-term, outpatient clinical services to prevention education, advocacy, counseling and offender treatment programs created a systemic approach of prevention, response and treatment. Understanding how incidents of sexual and physical abuse create trauma responses in the body and mind, Reach was working with hundreds of individuals and families annually through counseling and advocacy by 2001.

Reach has been a leader in identifying changing needs and responding with innovative programming in education, outreach, counseling and treatment. As of 2023, Reach serves thousands of residents in Winnebago, Outagamie, and Calumet Counties.

For five decades, Reach has continued to evolve alongside the needs of survivors and the community. Today, that work takes a holistic approach to addressing sexual violence—from supporting survivors and providing trauma-informed care to educating communities and addressing behaviors that can lead to future harm.

2,783 clients have turned to Reach for clinical and advocacy support since 2016.

Building Safer Communities Through Education

Reach has provided prevention education in more than 35 schools each year, with 37 schools served so far in 2026.

Addressing Harm and Preventing Future Violence

Since 2016, Reach has provided sex offender treatment to 354 clients.

For 50 years, survivors, advocates, staff, volunteers, partners and community members have helped make healing possible. Reach continues its commitment to supporting survivors, preventing violence and building a community where healing is prioritized.
