Tim Smith, MSW, LCSW

Clinical Therapist • He/Him/His

Tim received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2012. He then completed a Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 2019. Tim earned both of his degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and holds a license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Tim was fortunate to complete his clinical placement with Reach Counseling (2018-19) which turned into a full-time position as a therapist upon graduation from the Social Work program. He has been providing therapy with Reach for over three years. He serves clients from all walks of life, but primarily focuses on trauma and sex offender treatment. This gives Tim a unique opportunity to work with clients who have experienced trauma(s) along with clients who have committed sex offenses (rehabilitation).
Tim's areas of expertise include: trauma (related to sexual assaults and/or domestic violence), sex offender treatment, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual behavior problems, pedophilia, paraphilia, and pornography addictions. He is well trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and trauma processing. He also holds a certificate as a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP).
As a therapist, Tim uses a person centered approach as people respond differently to therapy. He strives to find what therapy techniques work best for his clients to aid them in life’s journey. He believes everyone has a story to tell and his goal is to help clients tell their story in a safe and therapeutic setting. Therapeutic relationships are key for clients progressing in treatment. His goal is to help client’s heal from soul wounds brought about by traumatic events they have experienced.
In his free time Tim enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter, playing with his dogs, reading, watching movies and sports. Having family from the Pittsburgh area, he is an avid Steelers fan, but enjoys watching all NFL teams.
